Filter Wizard

FastStats Analyzer has very flexible site filtering capability. Analyzer processes your log files one line at a time, where each line represents visitor access to a single resource on your website. You may want to restrict the information Analyzer gathers by filtering out some of these lines.

This filter is an ‘include’ filter

Choose this option if you want all log file data that applies to this filter to be included in the report. Analyser will discard all lines that do not match the filter.

This filter is an ‘exclude’ filter

Choose this option if you want Analyzer to exclude from the report and discard all log file data that matches this filter.

Note: you may want to check out the Global Options dialog. There are two important checkboxes “Only include log file records if all include filters are true” and “Only include log file records if all exclude filters are true”. These checkboxes affect the way Analyzer combines multiple include and exclude filters.

What property do you want to filter by?

Choose the property you would like to filter by. You can view a tutorial on filtering, or choose from any of the available filters below for a brief summary:

• QuickFilter by date to restrict analysis to a particular date range
• QuickFilter search engine spiders to exclude or include these hits from your analysis
  
  
• IP Address filter to block out hits from your own or your network computers
• Domain name filter for visitor domain names
      (May slow analysis by requiring reverse DNS lookup on all hits to your site)
• Requested File to filter by a single file or directory
• Range of dates to filter for a specific date range
• Day of week or Hour of Day to restrict analysis based on specific days or hours
• Success Code to filter by the code the server returns to the browser for the request (more on codes)
• Authenticated User to filter by users that log into your site using http authentication
• Referring URL to filter by specific referrers or referring pages
• Operating System or Browser to filter by user OS or browser.
• Web Spider to handle search engine spiders
• Request Type to distinguish between GET, POST, and HEAD requests
• Virtual Domain to filter by a specific domain that your site hosts.
     requires that your server log the virtual domain information to your log files
• Query String allows you to specify a query string variable and value for filtering
